Learner Profile
As a student in the Advanced level, you are an individual
with a strong foundation in English and use it confidently as your primary
language on a daily basis. Your understanding of English is derived from
education and social usage, but you may lack exposure to using English
in a native speaking environment or professional and corporate situations.
Completion of this stage will help you broaden your vocabulary and introduce
new grammatical structures to handle such situations in a confident manner.
Duration
Short Term: 2 Months (approx. 40 hours)
Long Term: 6+ Months (approx. 120+ hours)
Attendance
Self paced: 2 times per week (approx. 60 mins. per visit)
Choice of evening or daytime classes

Main Objectives
The main objective of this
course is to further reinforce the students knowledge of English
by developing their receptive (reading and listening) and productive (writing
and speaking) skills. Students will be exposed to complex grammar structures
and vocabulary in both professional and social situations. They will be
able to communicate with maximum fluency on an oral and written level
in English-speaking countries.
Course Curriculum
In this course you will:
- Improve fluency in typical situations
in a business environment, such as negotiating,
chairing a meeting and using different registers
- Learn to use complex expressions
- Be able to use idiomatic expressions,
colloquial language, phrasal verbs and
advanced grammar
- Be able to comprehend difficult
reading assignments
- Learn to write in different
rhetoric styles
- Be able to converse with a very
high degree of fluency and be able to comprehend
complex discourse
Teaching Methodology
A wide variety of media including video tapes, television,
magazines, personal computer, and newspaper articles, will be used for
instructional purposes. Students will also participate in role play situations
to learn vocabulary and grammar in different contexts.
Evaluation and Certification
Students must pass various checkpoint reviews in the curriculum
before proceeding with each lesson. Failure to pass the checkpoint would
result in the student having to repeat the curriculum.
Written assignments are reviewed
by instructors who provide students with immediate feedback. Instructors
may recommend additional tutorial time or multimedia curriculum review.
Upon completion of the WSI program,
students will receive an internationally recognized Wall Street Institute
Certificate of completion or Diploma. Furthermore, WSI students also have
an option of taking TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication),
an international workplace English examination.
Teaching Materials and English Instructors
All materials and fees for this course are included in
the WSI course fees. Students will be given access to unlimited usage
of the multimedia facilities.
WSI English instructors are all
highly qualified degree holders from leading foreign universities ranging
from the United States and Canada to Australia and Great Britain. They
bring together a wide range of teaching and professional experiences to
enhance the overall quality and dynamics of classroom instruction.
