Course Curriculum


Overview

The WSI curriculum is divided into 17 levels for General and Advanced English and 6 levels for Business English. Depending on a student’s study rhythm, it may take 30-40 hours to complete one level of WSI English.

ENGLISH ON-LINE
BEGINNERS/SURVIVAL
The text and exercises in the Survival stage are designed to provide students new to English with the basic framework for recognizing and using new vocabulary.
ELEMENTARY/WAYSTAGE
Students learn to express him/herself in everyday situations to accomplish basic everyday tasks such as self-introductions and asking for directions.
INTERMEDIATE/UPPER WAYSTAGE
Students at this stage are able to hold a conversation with an adequate degree of fluency, read simple technical documents, and write short business reports.
UPPER INTERMEDIATE/THRESHOLD
At the Threshold stage, students can converse with a high degree of fluency and are able to comprehend complex ideas expressed in English.
   
PREMIER
ADVANCED/MILESTONE
At this stage students reinforce their English proficiency via dialogues, role-plays, and readings designed to expand vocabulary and introduce new structures.
EXPERT/MASTERY
The objective of the Mastery stage is to ensure that students continue to improve their English fluency and master the use of complex expressions.
   
BUSINESS ON-LINE
BUSINESS ON-LINE
Business On-Line, which complements WSI’s General and Advanced English courses, is a business English series that has been specially designed to:

• Focus on business English relevant to specific job functions.
• Improve students’ understanding of conversations relating to key business situations.
• Develop students’ general and technical business vocabulary.
• Improve students’ overall communication skills.

 

Note: TOEIC and IELTS scores are approximate equivalencies for students completing the respective stages. Actual results may vary from student to student.
